BEST PRACTICES WHEN STORING

We at MOHAVE STORAGE understand that renting a storage unit can be daunting, so here are general RULES & BEST PRACTICES to make things go more smoothly for you:

  • Double check that your unit and latch is fully secured and locked correctly before leaving facility. Avoid "locked open" unit by attempting to open your latch and door after securing your lock.
  • Manual Gates: Please close the gate behind you as you enter the facility. As you leave please close and lock the gate, and mix up the numbers on the combination lock to secure the gate. Tug on the lock to ensure it is secured before you leave the facility.
  • Powered Gates: Be sure the Entrances close behind you upon leaving the facility. Please report any issues to our office; 928-219-6598
  • Round Disc Locks with keys are required for on all units; if you do not have one, please call or visit our office and we'll provide one free of charge: 928-219-6598 
  • Please be courteous to the other tenants and clean up your trash in front of your unit. Please take your trash with you (Call us for emergency access to the Facility Dumpster, if provided (not a guaranteed amenity). Please do not use any other Dumpsters near our Properties. Do not over-stuff dumpsters nor leave bulky items (fees may apply)
  • Please be considerate to our customers and do not block other doors, hallways, or entrances. 
  • Although many of our facilities allow ample access hours, abuse of this access will result in immediate eviction; Do not loiter or park overnight. Use of your storage space for anything other than storing belongings is illegal and will result in immediate eviction and legal action if evidence of residential use, lounging, loitering, cooking. meetings/yard sales, etc. is found or reported.
  • Never store food or perishables in your units, as this attracts mice and creates problems for all tenants. Mohave Storage contracts with Local Pest Control Companies to keep on top of this issue, but we need your help to keep it clear of food inside the units. Hazardous materials that may leak, melt, or explode are also prohibited. 
  • Industry Standard Recommendations include covering any sofas, mattresses, and other items in plastic or tarps. Mohave Storage regularly checks the roof and drains at all of our facilities, but we recommend the extra safe-guard against leaks, pests, and even dust during the summer. We have also noticed tenants placing their belongings on pallets or shelves.
  • Do not to store high-value items, cash, or priceless./sentimental belongings. You do so at your own risk and we recommend adding insurance, and documenting stored items.
  • As always, if you see something, say something. Please call our office if you notice any suspicious activity and speak with our staff or leave a voicemail with as much detail as you can. Do not attempt to confront any person at our facility. In case of emergency, dial 911 or the local Police.
  • Return Carts and Dollies to Return Area for the next customer (if applicable).
  • To receive updated alerts and invoices, please contact our office in Writing if you've changed your phone number, email, or address.
  • Rent is due on your due date, whether you receive an invoice or not. Mohave Storage offers a 9-day grace period before Late Fees are automatically applied to your account.  
  • Working inside your unit is not permitted and may result in Fines or Eviction. 
  • Entering or tampering with units not listed on your lease and leaving trash behind may result in fines.
  • Loitering, gatherings, conducting sales / yard sales, or any form of residential use is not permitted. 
  • Smoking, cooking, or use of space Heaters or Generators inside units will result in immediate eviction and is a Fire Hazard.
  • For Facilities with Restricted Gate Hours: Exiting After Hours may result in Fines or Eviction.
  • Use of unit for overnight loitering is illegal and will result in immediate eviction.
  • Unauthorized use of Facility Electricity or other Utilities may result in Fines or eviction.

WHAT NOT TO STORE

All of our Mohave Storage Locations offers security amenities, but the tenant stores at their sole risk. If your unit contents damage the unit, you may be liable for fees; please review your Lease. 


We recommend documenting items stored in your unit by taking photos and notating electronics serial numbers before you lock your unit door. 

To avoid risk of eviction or fines, please DO NOT store:
  • Food, Spices, Pet food
  • Perishables
  • Hazardous chemicals or oils
  • Pressurized Containers that may leak or explode
  • Items that release fumes (gas cans etc.)
  • Items that may melt over 95°
  • Living organisms 
  • Personal documents, Mail, Sensitive info
  • Priceless/irreplaceable possessions 
  • Antiques
  • Collectibles
  • Works of art, jewelry, fur coats
  • Valuables worth over $5,000
  • Items deemed illegal by the state.
  • Contraband 
  • Unregistered Vehicles
  • Any items NOT covered by your Tenant Protection plan (please review your Lease Addendum)
